In life and business there are always distinct differences that separate the two. That is a good thing, as daily lifestyle and business demands a different set of rules. The same applies for commercial microwaves used by restaurants and domestic microwaves used in households. So we all understand that there are different criteria for each user but what are the distinctions between commercial and domestic microwaves that we should consider?

Domestic microwaves are an invention that everyone is grateful for. Heating food instantly and fast cooking are just a couple points to mention. These microwave ovens are specifically manufactured to reheat cooked and prepared foods. It makes life convenient for many consumers who are able to quickly heat milk, lunch or supper. It is also ideal for cooking popcorn. Although domestic microwave ovens are made to last a very long time, it must be taken into account that this is based on normal daily domestic use. People, most likely, use a microwave about 2 to 3 times a day. That means that daily usage is not that high and it doesn’t have to be able to work too hard to remain reliable for a long period of time.

Commercial microwaves, on the other hand, have more daily tasks to handle. They are used much more times that just 2 or 3 in a day. They are constantly at work all day in a busy restaurant or café because they need to heat meals for customers and milk for coffee, amongst others. Industrial microwaves are manufactured to be sturdy and strong enough to be used all day. They have a high level of power for fast heating. Some models are constructed so that you are able to stack them one on top of the other in order to save space in the restaurant kitchen. You will also find that certain models offer variable cooking settings as well as a memory function setting for convenient and accurate heating of various food items. Their durable construction allows you to use these commercial microwaves for many years of food service.

Although, in many cases a commercial and a domestic microwave may look the same, their construction and capabilities are very different. It is not recommended for restaurants to simply use a domestic microwave because it may seem cheaper at the time. You’ll be constantly replacing it and that will cost much more in the end. It is better to invest in a sturdy commercial microwave oven for your restaurant. This will ensure speedy service and satisfied customers.
