Survive in Tough Times
23 Aug

If you’ve managed to get your restaurant to this point, you should be proud of yourself. You survived a lockdown, an economic downturn and repeated petrol price hikes. Give yourself a pat on the back or better yet toast to that.

It’s so important to reflect on the good things you’ve managed to do so far and the tough times you’ve survived through. It’s not easy and you’ve shown that you have the endurance to push your restaurant through the hardest times we’ve ever experienced in our lifetime.

You may feel like you don’t have it in you anymore, but you do. You can still push through this pandemic and this tough economy. How? Like this…

  • With true perseverance. Have a ‘don’t give up’ attitude and keep going no matter what happens. If that catering equipment breaks down. Make a plan to repair it or get a new one. Make sure it’s one that will last longer than that one that broke down.
  • Then take a break and regroup. Not a big break, even if it’s just an afternoon where you do something you love that takes you away from your day-to-day activities. This will freshen your mind and allow you to come up with new ideas.
  • Learn more. Always read or watch videos on what other people in your industry are doing to ensure they grow their restaurant. Get ideas.
  • Use those ideas. Don’t just sit on it. Be innovative and creative with the way you advertise your restaurant. Come up with interesting deals or offers and maybe even experiences or events that people will want to attend.

These are a few ways that you can do more than just survive the situation you find yourself in. It’s going to be the ones who have true grit who will make it. You can do it. You can stand strong and you can survive.
